CUSTOMS, DUTY & TAX… OVERVIEW…

WHY DEAL WITH HUGE SET OF DOCUMENTATION AND CUSTOMS CLEARANCE PROCEDURES?

Most business owners or Entrepreneurs put off importing by the minefield of customs clearance, tax, duty, and commodity codes.

All goods imported into India have to pass through the procedure of customs for proper examination, appraisal, assessment and evaluation. This helps the customs authorities to charge the proper tax and also check the goods against the illegal import.

We shall take care of customs clearance, tax, duty, and commodity codes.

DO I NEED AN IMPORT LICENSE OR ANY OTHER LICENSE?

No, As we have our import license and for a specific product which needs special government license we can also take care of such licenses provided they are legal and ethical to import.

however, if you wish to import goods by using your company credentials we would just require few company related documents and an authorization letter. We shall do it all for you.

HOW IS DUTY CALCULATED?

Duty is subject to change all times. Central Government is responsible for setting up duties. Every product has a unique commodity code  (also known as Harmonized Code) which has set of duties attached to it. As the duties are variable for each type of product based on its make and type please feel free to contact us on getting correct duty for your commodity.

SOME OF MY PRODUCTS ARE IN ANTI-DUMPING DUTY LAW, DOES THAT MEAN I CANNOT IMPORT?

Yes, You can import; Government of India Ministry of Commerce have levied anti-dumping law on any article being exported from any country or territory to India at less than its normal value. Anti-dumping duty is additional duty charged other than regular import duty on that article or commodity.

WHEN DO YOU PAY TAX, DUTY & CUSTOMS CLEARANCES?

You are required to pay tax, duty and customs clearance once the goods arrive at INDIA. After completion of all the clearance procedure an invoice is raised by the government of India and the goods are released from customs, tax and duty are paid.

ARE WE STILL REQUIRED TO PAY CST/VAT EVEN AFTER PAYING CUSTOMS DUTY?

Yes, Customs duty is paid on imported goods. Along with customs duty, other duties like CVD, Addl. Duty is also paid. However, VAT or CST is paid for goods sold within India. Unless exempted by State or Central most goods/articles are bound to pay both customs duty and CST/VAT.
